Military Air Transport Service (MATS), N494TW<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In den sp\u00e4ten Neunziger Jahren musste man sich bereits ordentlich anstrengen, wollte man eine Lockheed Constellation, umgangssprachlich auch “Conny” genannt, sehen. Umso erfreulicher war es, dass Ende Juni 1998 eine nach Hamburg kam. Es handelte sich dabei um N494TW, die C-121A der Constellation Group. Zu der Zeit besuchte das Flugzeug mehrere St\u00e4dte in ganz Europa und im Rahmen der Feierlichkeiten, zum 50 J\u00e4hrigen Jubil\u00e4um der Berliner Luftbr\u00fccke, auch Hamburg. Vom 29.06.1998 bis zum 01.07.1998 war sie in unser Stadt. Es waren sogar Rundfl\u00fcge buchbar. Die technische Basis des Flugzeugs war zu diesem Zeitpunkt in Basel.<\/p>\r\n

Eine bewegte Geschichte<\/h4>\r\n

Die Geschichte der MATS Conny ist eine lange mit vielen Stationen. Werfen wir einen Blick darauf.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

    \r\n
  • Ausgeliefert im Dezember 1948 an die US Air Force.<\/li>\r\n
  • Flog die Berliner Luftbr\u00fccke mit.<\/li>\r\n
  • Ca. 1950 Umbau von C-121A zu einer VC-121A.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n
  • 1968 endete der Dienst bei der USAF und sie wurde zur Davis Monthan AFB geflogen zum Einlagern.<\/li>\r\n
  • 1970 umgebaut zu einem Agrarflieger.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n
  • Am 31. August 1984 wurde die Maschine von John Travolta erworben.<\/li>\r\n
  • 1991-1992 umfangreiche Restaurierung bei der sie auch die Bemalung von MATS erhielt.<\/li>\r\n
  • Am 09. August 1994 Landeunfall in Avra Valley (Arizona\/USA). Dabei wurden die Propellerbl\u00e4tter und Teile der Fahrwerkst\u00fcren besch\u00e4digt.<\/li>\r\n
  • 1998 Tour durch Europa<\/li>\r\n
  • Am 1. April 2005 startete man zu einem \u00dcberf\u00fchrungsflug nach S\u00fcdkorea.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n
  • Seit 18. April 2005 im static display Jeongseok (Jeju – Jeongseok) (JDG \/ RKPD)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n
